Get the Kids busy in June!
With our guide to the best workshops for kids in Paris
by Jennifer Hamerman
June is a wonderful month for families in Paris. The mood is great and time is racing towards the long summer break. Harness that energy and get your kids signed up for some of the fabulous children’s workshops on offer in the city. Here are our top ten tips.
Tailor-made trip to the Paul Klee Exhibit
The Musée de Poche in the 11th runs a fantastic workshop. Aimed at kids aged 6 and over, the children meet at the Musée de Poche, a delightful kids museum in the 11th arrondissement. The group then travels together to one of the city’s largest museums for a guided visit with the lovely Pauline and they return to the Musée de Poche to create their own art project based on what they have seen. On Saturday 18 June, the trip will be to the Pompidou to look at the Paul Klee exhibition.
Reserve with Pauline in advance by emailing email@example.com or phone 01.48.06.73.24 and then drop your children at 2pm at the Musée de Poche for a three-hour art adventure
(Mamas please note that is three hours off for you! You’re welcome!)

Ticket to the East!
Kids will board an imaginary train to follow in the footsteps of Swiss painter Charles Gleyre on his voyage to Egypt as they look at his paintings in the Musée d’Orsay and then they’ll get busy with watercolour paints to create their own art. Workshops take place on 5 and 12 June and there are separate sessions for 5 – 7 year-olds and 8-11 year-olds. Hop on board!

Make your own bling!
If you’re going to make your own jewellery, there’s no better place to do it than the Musée des Arts Decoratifs. Children aged 4 and over can attend with their families and create their own brooch. The kids will be encouraged to experiment with colour and shape. The session takes place at 2.30pm on Wednesday 22 June. Contact the museum on firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone 01 44 55 59 25 to be sure of a place. And you’re perfectly placed for a stroll in the Tuileries after your creative session!

Sketch the Louvre
Aimed at 8-12-year-olds, this workshop (called ‘Face aux œuvres, le croquis’) takes your kids on a wander through the Louvre to discover different works of art. Best of all, they’ll stop to make their own sketches using different materials and techniques. A chance to learn from the best! As always with the Louvre, you need to be super-organised to book your spot. The ticket line opens for each session at 9am, 14 days in advance of the workshop. So it’s up to you to get dialling at the right time, debit card in hand. The number is 01 40 20 51 77.

Bags of Style!
This is one for older kids. Aimed at 11-14 year-olds, the group will stroll around the Musée des Arts Decoratifs and take their inspiration from China and Japan before heading into the studio to design and make their own bag. Lots of scope for creativity and your own one-of-a-kind bag to take home. Contact the museum on email@example.com or telephone 01 44 55 59 25 to secure a place.
Music of the movies!
The Philharmonie de Paris is hosting a great event to explore the strong links between the worlds of cinema and music. This being the Philharmonie, there will of course be a chance for the kids to get the instruments out and make their own music too. This event takes place at 2pm on Saturday 4 June and is aimed 7 – 11 year olds. This workshop coincides with the Pixar concerts also taking place at the Philharmonie the same weekend
