Here are MLP’s top picks for the next 48 hours!
The Beach without a Beach
This weekend the Paris Plage opens in Paris. Sadly it isn’t going to be the same as previous years given that there isn’t going to be any sand. MLP’s inside intel suggests that the reason there is no sand in Paris this year is because, the company that supplies the sand was allegedly trying to secure the contract to build Donald Trumps Wall and that news didn’t go down too well with the French. So Paris authorities responded with a sand ban!! But who knows if that’s the real story. #gossip
Despite this, Paris has nonetheless tried to make the celebrated tradition a fun experience regardless! So from July 8th at Voie Pompidou and Berge Seine, there will be deckchairs, games, sun loungers and the like all on hand to give you that chill by the poolside feeling. Given this is Paris expect the unexpected when you go for a stroll along these River banks, Paris always surprises! Plus, from July 15th there will actually be three swimming pools by the River Seine built especially to make up for the lack of beach this year. So you can dive in along the River Back at Villette from next weekend!
Fancy some free music? Then rock up to Hotel de Ville in the 4th and get down to some free live music care of FNAC. From 5pm to midnight on Friday 7th and Saturday 8th you can get a flavour of a whole host of bands across genres – check out the lineupand go check it out.
From Sunday, July 9th you and the family can take an awesome ride into a national forest from Canal D’Ourq! It’s a 15km journey so will take about an hour or so. You can even take your bikes on board and perhaps cycle back into the centre of the city! Or, alternatively, return by train. This special boat ride will take place daily until the end of August and costs €15 for adults and €13 for kids. Get on at the Bassin de Villette and enjoy the ride. Find out more details on the boat ride site. PS: MLP is so doing this!
L’ete de Canal
Speaking of Canals, MLP cannot stress enough the fun that can be had with kids at L’ete du Canal. It really is a fantastic place to take the family. Every weekend throughout July and August, you and the family can just lose yourself here amongst the plethora of activities that Paris puts on for your enjoying. From zip lining to workshops, special open air café’s and play spaces, it is so much fun and we thoroughly recommend. It all starts now so go and see for yourself.
The first time MLP went here the kids had a blast – here is the review, read and enjoy. It’s also the brunch spot for the Summer. For around €20 minimum you can tuck into a veritable feast of French cuisine!
Les Nuit des Invalides
This is a popular Summer experience here in Gay Paree. From July 6th until September 2nd in the grounds of the Army Museum – behind that huge beautiful dome in the heart of Paris – there is a two hour projected night show.
The show tells the story of France by projecting visuals onto the facade of the three walls surrounding the enclosure. Scheduled to take place from Wednesdays to Saturdays throughout the sunshine season – it’ll be a real experience. This year a walk amongst thousands of candles is also part of the spectacle! And…..drumroll….c’est gratuit! It’s free.
The show starts at 10:30pm and you can reserve your place on the Les Nuits des Invalide website.
