Happy Halloween

Newcomers to Paris worry there might not be much occasion for their kids to celebrate Halloween.  Fear not, Paris has plenty going on and we have investigated some Halloween highlights for you!

Disney always get you in the Halloween spirit

Goofy is hosting a ‘Skeletoon Street Party’ at Disneyland Paris! This Halloween festival is running at Disney from 1 October to 5 November. Disney do Halloween beautifully. Their decorations are great and it really gets you in the spirit.

Boneshaker Doughnuts Trick-or-Treating Party

Boneshaker doughnuts in the 2nd district are hosting their annual Trick-or-Treating Party at 1pm on Saturday 28 October. You can pick up your trick-or-treating map and then trick-or-treat around the neighbourhood. The best costume will win a gift certificate for a dozen doughnuts! They’ll also have a large selection of trick-or-treating tote bags, gruesome baked goods, spooktacular doughnuts, jack-o-lanterns galore, and of course, a lot of sweets.

Pumpkin Festival at the Ferme de Gally

Pumpkin carving at the Ferme de Gally

From the 26 October to 31 October 2017 the Ferme de Gally, just outside Paris, will be hosting their annual pumpkin festival ( La Fête de la Citrouille). Kids can carve and decorate their Jack O’ Lanterns and also visit the farm. Be sure to sign up in advance for your pumpkin carving session.

Parc Asterix

Parc Asterix really go to town for Halloween, with late night opening hours and a lot of spooky Halloween festivity. You can buy tickets in advance for their Halloween days and nights.

France Miniature

France Minature is a great day out. It is exactly as its name describes – a model size version of France and its monuments that you can walk around. And if you haven’t been yet, then Halloween is a good time to try it as they make a real effort for this festival.  Their Halloween events will take place on Sunday 22 and 29 October and 5 November and Tuesday 31 October.

Grevin Museum

Halloween spookiness at the Grevin Museum

The Grevin waxworks museum of Paris can always be relied upon to make Halloween spooky and this year is no exception. Their Halloween special runs from 25 October to 31 October.

Halloween Party at the American Library

Halloween cats at the American Library Party

This annual event is an MLP favourite. The American Library runs three wonderful Halloween parties on the same day each year, with each party aimed at a different age group. This year’s Halloween parties will be on Saturday 21 October.  Younger children usually get a combination of crafts and then a musical performance. Older kids get a spookier offering in the evening – this year a Zombie Fashion Show! The American Library parties are a great tradition for the expat community in Paris. Even parents dress up, with some families taking the costumes very seriously in the hope of winning prizes. Old friends spot each other and catch up and it’s a lovely atmosphere. Tickets went on sale earlier in the month for members and will go on sale 13 October for non-members.

Message Halloween Trick-or-Treat Party

Message is a great organisation for parents and parents-to-be living in France. It’s a godsend for English-speaking parents who want to make friends in Paris and a great social network, as well as a source of support and advice. But another great reason to join them is their Halloween party. They’ll be throwing a fantastic one on Sunday 29 October – so maybe you should join Message so you can join the party! We have attended some great Message Halloween parties and parades in previous years in central Paris.

Happy Halloween
