Hippy Chic Café à Paris

MLP loves discovering great places to hang out with the kids and this new find is not only a super cute little eaterie, it is located in a perfect spot for children.

L’improbable is an indoors/out café in the Marais district of Paris. You’ll find it on a pretty narrow street alongside a charming antique shop and restaurant.

Decked out, inside one of those typically beautiful Parisian arches, L’improbable is an original find. At the heart of the interior is an old style Camper van which instantly sets the scene and the tone, for the flavour of the place.

No question that there’s some kind of hippy groovy vibe here, that’s for sure. Cushion covered low-slung seating can be found in the back, with a high table and high stool wooden dining space up front.

The toilet is camouflaged as a garden shed and a private door is adorned with brooms hanging from hooks. A sign stating ‘Zone du Petit Personnel’, signals the welcoming of children and points you in the direction of the library  – which is actually a crate full of books and magazines.

The kids ordered cookies and hot chocolates on arrival and after a few minutes of exploration chilled out on the stools.

We didn’t have lunch, but found the menu quite interesting! Top of the list of options was something called Les Pistolets, essentially a Belgian style sandwich! This just added to the unique offering of L’improbable, and on further investigation, MLP discovered that the owner was Belgian…Ah! that explains it then!

L'Improbable

The menu isn’t specifically designed for kids but sandwiches, cookies and cake provide handy options. There’s a lovely selection of alcoholic beverages to consume too…fine cocktails peut etre? Could be just the ticket!

The decor here is a winner, it’s so different to anything else MLP has seen in Paris so far. The van and the shed feel like they’re bringing the outdoors to the inside; and that’s such a novel idea!  J’adore the location – did I mention that there is a playground about a two-minute walk away, on the Street of White Coats! (Rue des Manteaux Blanc)!

It’s handy to know it’s there, especially  when you’re in the Marais district trying to find somewhere chilled enough to satisfy you and the kids – quite frankly it’s a godsend.

Just keeping you in the know!
