Little Villette
A space designed just for kids in Paris
Lots of great activities all year round
Children in Paris will be leaping about with joy when they learn the news that, a brand new dedicated space, just for them will be opening its doors this month.
An all-year-round programme of activities, workshops, fun events and mini adventures have been designed, by the curators of this new initiative, over a whopping 1000m of floor space! Plenty of room for the little people in our lives, to play, learn and discover whilst having the best fun imaginable.
Part of the La Villette, urban entertainment complex, Little Villette can be found next to the Grand Hall, in the venue called Le Pavillion Paul-Delouvrier. Inside, they have promised that as soon as the kids walk in they can either, chill out in the reading corner or test the circus apparatus, maybe participate in some theatrics or start colouring on the walls! There’s also a renovated garden, a meadow and plenty of outdoor games for them too.
MLP loves their idea of the ‘cabinet de curiosities‘ where kids can discover a variety of creative installations that will keep changing over time. No expense seems to have been spared here, with the inclusion of a circus room, a theatre space, a projection space – presumably showing films – and a salle dedicated entirely to objet plastique!
You can sign your children up now, from 0-12yrs, to take part in a colourful mix of ateliers with dates already extending through to July. On the agenda, you’ll find dance classes, art sessions, gardening/nature workshops and so much more.
Celebrate the Launch
Little Villette is opening its doors to you for FREE (oui! no money, pas de tax, gratuit!) over the weekend of May 21 & 22 2016. It starts at 2:30pm, so you should go and check it out for yourselves. Your children may get the chance to participate in some of the events they are putting on too, including a singalong at 3pm!
A Few Facts
For those of you who aren’t familiar with the whole La Villette proposition. Here are a few facts:
- It lies at the heart of the 19th Arrondissement (North Paris).
- The Cité des Science, La Geode & La Philharmonie de Paris are all part of this complex.
- Parc Villette offers up a wealth of green space.
- It sits by the river, where boating and water games are top of the agenda over the summer months.
- It is the proud residence of the famous Paris Dragon Slide and hosts the most brilliant playgrounds for kids of all ages.
- There is a conservatory and a riding stable in the vicinity too.
MLP took the kids up this ‘neck if the woods’ and wrote about it last summer if you would like to read more about it.
Dates to remember
The opening party is free and on May 21/22 from 2:30pm
