A beautiful garden in the heart of Paris

Jardin du Luxembourg is a beautiful park located in the centre of Paris. Famous for its perfectly manicured lawns and trees, this park is the garden for Parisians who flock here to relax, run, play petanque, chess or enjoy a day or afternoon with friends and family.

What’s there?

Aside from green spaces and beautiful flowers, the park has a number of unique features. A lake sits at the centre in front of the stunning senate building. There are three tennis courts, a massive playground, a concrete space for kids to play football,  a carousel too, a mini Statue of Liberty, a theatre and a museum  – the Musée du Luxembourg

Can I eat here?

Yes. There are two restaurants and a couple of kiosks selling snacks and coffees.

What’s on for kids?

As mentioned there is a great playground which gets very busy but it’s fantastic for children and the apparatus cater for kids from 6-12. You have to pay a couple of euros for each child but after you can come and go throughout the day without paying a second time. You’ll find a kiosk inside where you can get sweet snacks and drinks and toilets too.

Outside the playground, there is a fun dual swing for kids and a carousel.

From may until September there is a creche from children 18 months to 6 years.

Pony trekking is popular with young children and usually, during the summer months, go karting is on offer.

The theatre puts on performances for kids with fun puppet shows every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday from 2pm and every day during the school holidays at 4pm. Great for kids from 3 years old.

On the lake, small boats can be hired so children can float them across the water.

Any tips?

The toilets in the main playground are not very hygienic. Best to go to one of the other toilets in the grounds.

There are certain times of the year where nobody is allowed on the grass and the park police are very hot on this. There is such a commitment to the maintenance of the grounds, the period where the public cannot walk or sit on the grass is deemed necessary to keep the park looking gorgeous all year round.

Cycling is strictly forbidden. Scooters are allowed.

If you want to know more about the park you can take a tour. They only happen once a month but for more information on this you can call +33 (0)1 40 71 75 60.
